JOIN OUR TEAM

SWAVI runs entirely on volunteer power. Whether you can give a few hours a month or want to play a larger role, there's a place for you here!

We're currently looking for:

  • Volunteer Drivers — Help transport residents to appointments, events, and outings. Click to learn more about licensing and training requirements.

  • Attendants — Accompany a resident on their trip to provide support and companionship.

  • Grant Researcher — Help identify grants that SWAVI may be eligible for. Note: many grants require program delivery, so research focus should be on grants open to transportation/accessibility charities.

  • Board of Directors Members — We meet once a month for board meetings with a few additional meetings annually for fundraising discussions. Charity or non-profit experience is an asset, but commitment is what matters most.

  • Committee Members — Operations, Finance, Fundraising, and more.

  • Event Volunteers — We attend community events throughout the year and love having extra hands on deck

Why Our Volunteers Love Being Part of SWAVI

  • “Being part of this volunteer group has enriched my life, positively pushed me to be more selfless and aware, and encouraged me to give my time. Time is essential — figuratively and physically. Being there, in the moment, for someone else in need is rewarding and soul-enriching. I’m grateful to have become aware of the need for accessible transportation for The Meadows residents, and thankful to now be part of helping meet that need.”

    — Tracey

  • "Volunteering to drive gives Leonard and I an opportunity to do something together that has proven to be very rewarding. Meeting new people, getting to know residents and their families, and knowing that you’re making a difference in their quality of life is why volunteering for SWAVI is so gratifying. It’s a fun way to help the residents of The Meadows."

    — Leonard & Joan

  • “Makes me feel good knowing that I helped someone get to their appointment. All the clients are very thankful. Every trip that I take is a great time.”

    — Dick

  • “I’m one of the dedicated volunteers with SWAVI. Why? … Why not! SWAVI’s van is making a big difference in the lives of Meadows residents and their families — giving them the freedom to interact with their community as you and I do. You could be part of that great feeling too.”

    — Eunice
